Ikthalion Press is a private independent publisher. We publish fiction and nonfiction books on a variety of subjects with emphasis on science fiction, fantasy, vampire fiction, mythology, philosophy, critical thought, history, historical fiction and adventure. From time to time we may publish children's books and graphic novels. We do not publish poetry or experimental prose. The quality of the books we produce is on a par or very close to those of "traditional" publishing houses. Born in 2006 as the brainchild of author/publisher Theresa M. Moore, the name was adopted as an idea. When a search for the name turned up a reference to a mad centaur poet named Ikthalion quite by accident, the concidence seemed serendipidous. We adopted it in reference to the "Lord of The Rings" trilogy of films, in which even the smallest person can make a difference, and it is that philosophy which we strive to maintain, no matter the current view of small presses and independent publishers. Our mission is ever to educate as well as entertain.

♦ About T. M. Moore ♦ |
T. M. Moore is the pen name for Theresa M. Moore. She is the prime writer and illustrator for the covers and interior illustrations in our books. All of her work reflects a love for imaginitive and speculative fiction and also nonfiction in related subjects. Her philosophy is based on years of reading books and wanting to put her ideas into printed form. After many years of deferring her dreams, Moore is realizing them by contributing these heartwarming and adventuresome stories to the genre for others to read and enjoy. She has been a member of The Count Dracula Society, The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, as well as the Cartoon Fantasy Organization and various other associations. She has an Associate in Arts degree from Los Angeles Valley College, with a major in Accounting and a minor in Advertising Design. In addition to contributing to small press and fanzines, Moore also worked for ten years in the print advertising and publishing business, generating flyers and copy for several advertising firms on a freelance basis. She also published two genre specific anthology magazines: Alternate Realities and XENOS!; and generated flyers for various student organizations on campus.
Born in 1953, Moore was quickly exposed to reading and the arts as soon as she could walk and has been an artist in one medium or another since kindergarten, becoming skilled in pencils and pastels, moving on to illustration in pen and ink, oils and watercolors, and finally acrylics. Her style is fantasy realism. Except for a critical anatomy class for animators and a few workshops she is self-trained and finds her inspiration in the works of Maxfield Parrish, Bougoureau, Alma-Tadema, Neal Adams, Frank Kelly Freas and a host of other fantasy artists. This site features a portfolio of past works and also a line of art prints for sale through Ikthalion Press. Please visit and enjoy the world Moore has created. |
